Future For Australia
We need to improve & provide a stronger & fairer political system in Australia.
Money gives political power (if & when desired).
There are six (6) western power groups: -
The banks / financiers
The insurance industry
The pharmaceutical industry
The weapons industry
The mining industry
The tech industry.
The manoeuvre is easy today due solely to a COMPLICIT SOCIETY. ( if I have no interest in the subject matter I do not care).
The wealthy 10% of the western world are complicit & most continue to “chase” more money making at most cursory judgments on a political issue.
The other 90% of the western world have lost interest in politics because politics for them is too hard to understand today.
--- the macro & micro analysis of policy;
--- the much greater number of fields of public policy;
--- the complexity of the public financial accounts today;
--- the lack of natural leadership to say something simply & with compassion & conviction.
Governments have become “ mere puppets” for this small but very powerful group of persons in the western world who seek political power for their benefit. Such has made government & opposition party policy far left or right (policy by the few for the few). And these policies are circulated in literally one line summations via a sophisticated social media system. Simply put a mere short statement with little or no material to fully understand a policy to a complicit general public. The modern pace of life & the limited time & opportunity for the citizen to properly & diligently consider policy plus the contemporary pursuit for money at all costs has created a complicit society & made it easy through social media for politicians to become lazier & basically “do a rough sketch with a little colour” to win the day!
The political party structure & systems need an urgent & significant overhaul. They all operate the same way & all are imbedded today with a far too narrow political philosophy. One for the owners of business capital, one for the workers & poor, one for the farming community & the other for the environment & retention of various eco systems. All parties in Australia need to provide better systems to get better candidates. Political parties should seek to & engage with a much wider group of candidates. Just as I have written about strengthening the public service by making it a career subject at school from year 10 & thereafter a university degree. The same course would no doubt bring “ interested young potential politicians” into the arena!
The third fundamental flaw with our political party system is receiving public donations. Such practice should have been prohibited many years ago. Each political party should receive an agreed amount from the public purse. The current system stinks. Australia is today more dishonest in politics, business & socially than it has ever been. And it is
getting worse each year as money becomes the all consuming god for Australian citizens to worship. With this knowledge parliament continues to play around with the long standing public donations to political party rules & protocols. Simply agree to prohibit all political donations & agree on a prescribed formula for monies to be advanced to political parties & independents for general elections.
The fourth fundamental flaw is the failure of any political party to have a 25 year policy vision. I have created my own political policy vision for the next 25 years. I want to abolish state governments & reconstruct & reconfigure local councils & make them agents of the national government. And we become a republic by 2050. And that day becomes our National Day of celebration etc. Increase the term of each parliament to four (4) years. It does not matter if such vision statement is discontinued or significantly varied. It is the vision & passion that we want to see in the politician & the party today.
What can be further done to improve the quality of government in Australia today?
1.Strengthen the right to become a politician.
(i) must work at least ten (10) years in business;
(ii) limit tenure to two (2) four(4) year terms;
(iii)remuneration should be average weekly earnings & the various fringe benefits inc. superannuation should be in line with the average worker. Leaders should lead by example. Such has certainly not been done in post WWII Australian parliaments this century.
2.Strengthen the public service & ancillary government & semi government organisations.
(i) As discussed above and in my earlier with papers.
3.Draw a new Constitution & abolish state governments and restructure municipal councils and make them simply agents of a national government.
(i) A new Constitution is required if only to satisfy the founders of our 125 year old document. Not one of those persons would have imagined that with the social & economic changes over the past 125 years we would still have the same Constitution. A completely new world with aeroplanes & now drones & computers & the internet require us to restructure our political system---there is no need for joint constitutional powers today. It is a gross mismanagement of people & money. And in the end the massive cost for such is paid by the taxpayer citizen. We can effectively and efficiently manage political business from literally anywhere in the country today.
Conclusion: -
Today we lack politicians with natural political leadership of people. The best current politicians are the independents. But they know only too well the unfairness of the current system - - their employee support allowance & other allowances to assist the work of an independent is pathetic. And simply done to impede & make life & work as an independent that much harder.
Political parties have become “boys clubs” or “exclusive clubs” much the same as big business & major sporting clubs like the AFL & horserace clubs. The “club doors” need to be opened to one and all at no or little cost.
So today we have conflict not consensus because of different political attitudes of the far left & far right which as I have outlined above are growing weaker & weaker each year.
Government should always be for, by & of the people. That last sentence is “pure gold”. Include as an addendum the Plato political analysis for a politician to always act for the “public good” (the majority) & the political parties in Australia today have the “cornerstone” for the development of a stronger party system.
Fail to act & the 2034 parliament may well have more independents than members of the political parties.
